Description
Outstanding questions
- The location that Flossenbürg memorial has seems to point to the center of Rtyně, while the text (USHMM Encyclopedia, Flossenbürg memorial) mentions the factory being in Velvěty and the camp as a square "in a forest close to the factory". More research is needed.
- Old, high fenceposts with bent top, across the water from a factory, on Google streetview near Velvěty,
- There are several small bunkers on openstreetmap: 1, 2 (see ropiky.net for more info) in the Velvěty area. It's not sure this is connected.
- USHMM mentions that after the evacuation in April 1945, prisoners from Flossenbürg-Chemnitz were forced to work in the factory until liberation on March 8, 1945. Unfortunately there is no more information in that text and why this is not considered to be a continuation of the Hertine camp. More research would be good.
