Description

Outstanding questions

The address given for "Astra-Werk I", where the workers were imprisoned in "a building with barred windows", in the USHMM Encyclopedia is Altchemnitzer Str. 41 in Chemnitz.

On https://www.gedenkstaette-flossenbuerg.de/en/history/satellite-camps/chemnitz this address is described as "the former main building of the Astra-Werke, while "Former Astra-Werk I" is shown as the large SPINNBAU building next to it. However, history on the SPINNBAU building does not mention Astra-Werk at all, nor any involvement with the production of adding and accounting machines.

Additionally, the USHMM Encyclopedia mentions Waplerstrasse 1 as the address for Astra-Werk II. https://www.gedenkstaette-flossenbuerg.de/en/history/satellite-camps/chemnitz has a picture of Astra-Werk II that does not correspond to the building at Waplerstrasse 1 / Annaberger Str. 76-86. That picture is actually of Annaberger Str. 105 / Rößlerstraße 3 in Chemnitz.

It would be good to get a clear and consistent picture. (more research needed)
